RoXdon BAX50s (Mk.2) Stereo Baxandall Equaliser BRITISH HANDBUILT STUDIO GEAR The RoXdon BAX50s Baxandall Stereo Equaliser is a handbuilt stereo 2-band shelving EQ, but unlike traditional shelving EQ's, which have a steep rise or fall above the set frequency, the Baxandall shelving curve has an extremely wide Q curve, which creates a gentle slope. The broad curve can adjust a large portion of the frequency spectrum, but the gentle slope allows for a more natural sound and minimal phase distortion. The minimal phase distortion enables users to make boosts and cuts without imparting negative artifacts into the signal. This results in a wide, open sound that enhances the source’s sonic character that’s already there rather than imparting its own sonic character. Fine adjustments can be made to the final stereo mix without the complexity of other types of equalisation which can alter the structure of the mix. The BAX50s features low
noise variable gain input and output Op-Amp circuits with front panel stereo controls
utilising sealed low noise potentiometers to enable precise adjustment of
the stereo line level signals. High quality WIMA capacitors are used in the
Baxandall EQ circuit ensuring the best performance from the equaliser.
