Oktava MK-102 Modular Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

 

Oktava JSC are one of the worlds leading manufacturer of studio microphones. Established in Tula, Russia in 1927 Oktava originally started life as a factory designing and producing components for crystal and tube, radio receivers.
In 1936 Oktava produced their first dynamic microphone which was in production for 20 years. 

Oktava microphones are used in many top recording studios and are considered to be up amongst the best studio microphones available in the world.

 

The Oktava MK-102 features a large 27.5 mm condenser capsule using all-brass backplate construction, precision-drilled pattern control holes and optimal 5 micron diaphragm for classic LDC microphone presence on vocals or instruments.

The MK-102 includes a -10dB pad for high sound pressure levels. The microphone is manufactured using a modular concept with the body and preamplifier design based on the world renowned Oktava MK-012. This modular design enables other Oktava capsules to be used with the MK-102 body. 

The MK-102 offers a smooth and extended frequency response with clean and accurate top end, free from the harsh, excessively bright sound found in many modern microphones. The MK-102 excels where the recordist desires a large diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone with a flat frequency response that is maintained from 0 to 180 degrees to achieve a natural room sound spectral balance.

The Oktava MK-102 is a multi-purpose microphone with many applications, including vocals, stringed instruments and woodwind.
